The CENZ Foundation Trust offers three qualifications:

•  The CENZ Certificate of Academic Achievement

•  The CENZ Level III Certificate

•  The CENZ Level III Certificate with Honours

The CENZ Certificate of Academic Achievement

This qualification is designed as an “open framework” for  students who cannot (or who do not wish to) obtain a Level 3 Certificate. It means that they can craft a dedicated qualification that meets the specific needs of the workplace or tertiary training sector of their choosing.

It may contain any number of credits from virtually any provider (including, but not limited to, NCEA, NZQA, Apologia, A.C.E., Saxon, Math-U-See, Cambridge, ABeka, IEW, Alpha Omega, Pluralsight and Rosetta Stone).

This means it replaces the need for separate “Level 1” and/or “Level 2” qualifications, as it can be crafted with credits at whichever level or levels suit the student’s vocational or educational aspirations.

The CENZ Level III Certificate

Like the Certificate of Academic Achievement, this qualification is designed as an “open framework” with a minimum number of prerequisites. It enables students to craft a Level 3 Certificate that meets the specific needs of the particular university course they seek to enter. It may contain credits from virtually any provider (including, but not limited to, NCEA, NZQA, Apologia, A.C.E., Saxon, Math-U-See, Cambridge, ABeka, IEW, Alpha Omega, Pluralsight and Rosetta Stone).

The CENZ Level III Certificate with Honours

This is awarded to students who achieve five or more passes at Level 3 with an average of no less than 93% (or excellence endorsements in the case of NCEA courses) in each.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that the Christian Education New Zealand Level 3 Certificate is accepted by the New Zealand universities for admission ad eundem statum at entrance level.
This means that for the purposes of entrance to a university the qualification is deemed to be equivalent to the officially-established minimum common entrance standard in this country. That standard is currently derived from the National Certificate of Educational Achievement, and is expressed as follows:

NCEA Level 3

Three subjects – at Level 3 or above, made up of:
– 14 credits each, in three approved subjects

Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above made up of:
– 5 credits in reading
– 5 credits in writing

Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of:
Achievement standards – specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, or  unit standards – package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).

In this connection the requirement for 10 credits at level 1 in Mathematics may be fulfilled by a pass in Algebra 1097-1108, and the requirement for 10 credits at level 2 in English (5 credits in reading and 5 credits in writing) may be fulfilled by a pass in English II 1097-1108. (Nos. 2 and 3 above).

To fulfil the level 3 requirement (No. 1 above) students with a Christian Education New Zealand Level 3 Certificate must have gained passes in at least 4 subjects designated “Level 3”.
